Des Plaines to host second annual bike tour

Des Plaines is gearing up for its second Tour de Des Plaines bike tour Sept. 18, a 12.5-mile bicycle ride through the city's eight wards. The tour will begin and end at Lake Park, Howard and Touhy.

It will be held in conjunction with Fall Fest, a three-day family event sponsored by the Des Plaines Park District, the History Center, and the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

The event offers food, beverages, beer, an open air market, carnival rides, games, a KidZone, a country fair, and musical entertainment. There is no fee for the bike ride but registration and a helmet are required. Helmets will be available for purchase at the registration site which opens at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Lake Park Golf Club House.
