DuPage County Board approves lobbying contracts

The DuPage County Board approved four contracts for lobbying services Tuesday.

The contracts had been held up for two weeks after some members questioned the need to spend nearly $400,000 on lobbyists.

Two lobbying firms were hired to deal with federal issues and two others were hired for state issues.

The county will spend $48,000 less on lobbyists than last year, and the DuPage Airport Board is chipping in $40,000 to cover some of the cost of one federal firm's contract.

Board members Dirk Enger and Tony Michelassi voted against all four of the contracts, while JR McBride voted against one state lobbying contract and one federal lobbying contract.
