1 child killed, another wounded in shooting
Police say a 9-year-old girl was killed in the Roseland neighborhood on Chicago's South Side when a bullet intended for someone else struck her.
According to Chicago Fire Department officials, a second 7-year-old girl was wounded in the shooting late Tuesday and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition. The victims were not identified.
Fire department spokesman Joe Roccalsalva says a third girl was taken to Roseland Community Hospital by her mother. Police indicated the child may have suffered a graze wound, or was cut by flying glass.
Neighborhood resident Yolanda White told the Chicago Sun-Times the shooting stemmed from an earlier confrontation between teens that escalated.
Authorities say no one is being held in connection with the shooting.
