Raceway should be better cared for

I agree with Elaine Rathzen about the care, or lack of, at the Raceway Woods property. I am less than impressed with the corporate excuse, "This is not a mowed experience."

Please - the trails should be well maintained as they were when under the stewardship of the Redmers. A border should be mowed adjacent to neighboring yards. No one wants to walk trails you need a machete to get through.

Wildlife walk over maintained trails and mowed border strips. That leaves the great majority of land natural and wild. Take a look at Rutland and Hampshire Forest Preserves, which I walk frequently. Trails are well maintained with sensible, mowed areas at picnic bench sites and along trails for a depth of a few feet. All adjacent property is wild, natural and teeming with wildlife.

What a shame that what wasn't broken had to be interfered with. In the end we are all losers.
