Lake County kicks off $6 million rental assistance program
Lake County residents struggling to pay their rent and stay in their homes have a new way to seek help through a county rental assistance program.
Those eligible must be county residents who've had a financial hardship during the pandemic, like losing a job, having their work hours reduced or incurring unexpected medical bills. People may receive up to six months of assistance through the program.
The $6 million program is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act and the Emergency Rental Assistance program. Applications are due by Nov. 15 and can be completed at lakecountyil.gov/renthelp.
