North Barrington woman charged after gutter theft

A North Barrington woman has been charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing gutter downspouts from churches in Park Ridge and Glenview, police said.

Gina Lewandowski, 45, was charged with two counts of felony theft from a place of worship after being seen driving away from Glenview Community Church with the copper downspout strapped to the roof of her vehicle on May 27, said Cmdr. Phil Perlini of the Glenview Police Department.

After the May arrest, officials from the Park Ridge Police Department investigated the woman for stealing downspouts at First United Methodist Church, St. Luke's Lutheran Church and Park Ridge Presbyterian Church, Perlini said.

An additional three charges of theft from a place of worship were approved by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office earlier this week, officials said.

The woman is free on bond, officials said. Her court date is unknown at this time.
