St. Charles teen arrested after series of crashes, hitting motorcyclist

An 18-year-old St. Charles man is facing several charges after hitting a stop sign, a parked car and then a motorcyclist last week, police said.

Thomas G. Lennon Jr., 18, of the 1700 block of Division Street, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle and driving too fast for conditions following the chain reaction crash on July 3, said Sgt. Brad Griffin of the St. Charles Police Department.

Lennon, driving with an unidentified 18-year-old passenger, hit a stop sign with his white Ford F-150 at the intersection of Persimmon and Hunt Club drives, before hitting a parked car in the 400 block of Hunt Club Drive, then rear-ending a motorcyclist on Fox Chase Boulevard near Waverly Circle, Griffin said.

Police said they were first called to the accident, where they spotted the mirror of the Ford's passenger side door at the scene, Griffin said. Then, they were called to the accident with the motorcycle, where the truck was discovered missing the mirror.

The motorcyclist suffered minor injuries, Griffin said.

Griffin added, during the investigation, neither Lennon nor his passenger could stand upright without swaying and often used the truck for support.

Because of their impaired condition, the two were taken to Delnor Hospital for treatment and chemical testing, Griffin said.

Police are still waiting for the test results, Griffin said. Additional charges could be filed against Lennon or the unidentified passenger at that time.

Lennon is free on a $100 cash bond. His court date is Aug. 12, Griffin said.

Lennon also was charged on June 25 with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor on the 200 block of South Fourth Street in Geneva, according to a police report.
