Police looking for trio that broke into Arlington Heights home

Police are looking for two men and a woman who broke into an Arlington Heights home July 15, kicked the male resident in the head and stole a semiautomatic pistol, cash, a laptop computer and an engagement ring, among other things.

A man and woman on the 100 block of North Donald Avenue told police the invaders originally demanded guns and drugs when they knocked about 9 p.m. and one offender pointed a semiautomatic handgun at the man who opened the door.

The man with the gun ordered him into the kitchen, and threatened to harm him if he did not give them guns and drugs, police said.

The man was taken to the basement, where the offenders secured the man and his girlfriend with plastic zip ties and someone kicked the man in the head.

The trio made off with a semiautomatic pistol valued at $400, a cell phone valued at $300, $800 cash, laptop computer, car keys and a gold engagement ring.

Paramedics treated the male victim's bruised and bloody face and eye, but he refused to go to a hospital, police said.

The man with the handgun was described as white, about 30 years old, 6 feet tall, 175 pounds, blond hair and wearing a yellow dress shirt and khaki pants.

The second male offender was described as Hispanic, about 30, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 210 pounds, black hair and wearing a blue flannel shirt.

The female was described as Hispanic, 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 170 pounds.

The male victim had previously reported a burglary and an attempted burglary, and officers suspect the attack was not random.
