Cramped kitchen feels closed off

Our small kitchen could really use some white cabinets to open the space up!

Budget: $8,000 to more than $10,000 depending on plumbing, finishes, etc.

The current kitchen cabinets are a bit dark and appear to make the kitchen feel closed in. The countertops look like a light colored laminate and would really look great in a natural stone to give the kitchen some warmth and depth.

Suggestions

• Kitchen Planet would reface the existing cabinets with a light, maple colored wood. This would open up the space and brighten it up so the homeowners wouldn't feel so closed-in while in their kitchen. With the refacing of the existing cabinets, there is virtually no mess or downtime to the consumer and the entire kitchen looks fresh and modern afterward.

• For the countertops we would use a neutral colored natural stone to give the kitchen the warmth that it needs, rather than all of the solid white that is currently there.

• We would also like to extend the countertop out a bit further to give them more eating space behind the sink for a breakfast bar.

• We also recommend a new stainless steel or ceramic sink and new faucet to complement the new countertops and cabinets.
