Tips shouldn't be requested

The bartender who wrote on Aug. 27 commented on tipping at "open bars" at a banquet. If the management has arranged with the host for set prices, gratuity is assumed to be included for both servers and bartenders. Should he check with his boss?

Any tips requested are a form of begging and unbecoming.
