Kane tax billsThe second installment for Kane County property tax bills is due Sept. 1. Taxpayers can go to kanecountytreasurer.org to view current tax information and print out duplicate bills. Also available on the website is a list of all unclaimed funds held by the treasurer's office. You can make payment by mailing the payment to the treasurer's office in the envelope provided, at a designated bank in Kane County, or in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at the Treasurer David Rickert's office, 719 Batavia Ave., Geneva. There is also a payment drop box available 24 hours a day located behind Building A at the Government Center on Batavia Avenue. You can also pay by credit card or E-check over the Internet, but there is a convenience fee for each service. For details, call Rickert's office at (630) 232-3565.Lemonade stand supports libraryFive Huntley children raised $31.75 for the Huntley Area Public Library this summer by setting up a lemonade stand and charging 10 cents per cup, according to the library. The lemonade stand has become an annual tradition for the Hassels and Laughlin families over the past three years. This year, the stand was staffed by Victoria, Elizabeth and Brady Hassels and Jack and William Laughlin, all younger than 8. The families presented their donation to library Director Patrick McDonald earlier this month. "This is a heartwarming tradition," McDonald said. "Our thanks go out to both families for their generosity toward the library and their hard work."Ride for mental healthA motorcycle charity poker run to benefit the Ecker Center for Mental Health in Elgin will be held Sunday, Aug. 29. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the offices of Baird and Warner, 2255 Randall Road, Carpentersville, which also is the sponsor. The ride will swing into Wisconsin with the fifth and final stop at Bandito Barney's, 10 N. River St., East Dundee. Registration is $20 and there will be prizes, raffles, food and drinks.
