Sox option Jeff Marquez to Charlotte

Following tonight's game vs. Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox optioned right-handed pitcher Jeff Marquez to Class AAA Charlotte.

Marquez, 25, appeared in one game with the White Sox after being recalled from Charlotte on Wednesday, making his major-league debut last night vs. the Royals (2 ER/1.0 IP).

Marquez is 7-4 with a 4.02 ERA (40 ER/99.2 IP) in 17 starts this season with Charlotte, including a 2-0 record with a 2.59 ERA (7 ER/24.1 IP) over his last four outings.

The White Sox will make a corresponding roster move prior to tomorrow's series finale against Kansas City.
