Bandits looking for sweep against Akron in Nebraska

Chicago Bandits first baseman Samantha Findlay smashed a solo homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning to complete a come from behind Bandits a 6-5 win Wednesday night.

The victory gives the Bandits (18-10) a chance to sweep the Akron Racers (15-12) in this three-game series concluding tonight at Hall of Fame Fields in Bellevue, Neb., at 7:05 p.m.

Wednesday night's extra-inning affair featured numerous lead changes.

Bandits pitcher Nikki Nemitz contributed to the team's offense with her third home run on the season and second in the last two nights. Nemitz's homer, alongside a two RBI double from Bandits outfielder Amber Patton, put the Bandits in a position for the win, but the Racers battled back in the seventh with RBI hits from Sam Ricketts and Lisa Modglin to tie the contest at 5-5 to send it to extra frames.

Modglin lead the Racers with three RBI, but Bandits pitcher Jessica Sallinger (4-3)got the win with a perfect ninth inning.

Findlay came to the plate with one out in the bottom of the ninth and crushed her eighth home run of the campaign, tying her atop the league leader board in homers.
