Legion state final postponed to Sunday

Heavy rain early Saturday morning forced the postponement of the American Legion baseball state championship game between Palatine and Moline to 9 a.m. Sunday at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake.

Moline (35-6) has not lost in the double-elimination tournament and beat defending state champion Palatine 9-3 on Thursday. Palatine (32-9) would have to win twice today to repeat as champions.

The winner advances to the Great Lakes Regional starting Thursday in Mattoon. Palatine has won two state titles and Moline is looking for its first state crown.
