You can help clean river at County Park

Elgin community Walgreens stores and the Friends of the Fox River will host a Fox Rescue River Clean-Up from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 17, at County Park, 11 W. Plum St., South Elgin.

Volunteers will pick up trash and debris from the shoreline of the Fox River near the softball fields behind the Fox Valley Trolley Museum. Look for signs near the entrance to County Park to lead you to the group. Volunteers should wear sturdy footwear and long pants in case of poison ivy.

Friends of the Fox River will provide bags, gloves and other supplies. You may want to bring a water bottle.

Fox Rescue River Clean-Ups are funded through a grant program provided by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Join them as they "Keep on Fixin' the Fox."

For details, call coordinator Jenni Kempf at (815) 356-6605. For information on Friends of the Fox, visit friendsofthefoxriver.org.
