Campton Hills man dies after crashing Jeep

A 44-year-old Campton Hills man is dead after rolling over his 1998 Jeep Wrangler on Silver Glen Road Monday afternoon.

Lt. Patrick Gengler of the Kane County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that officers and rescue personnel were called to Silver Glen Road, about one quarter mile east of Verhaeghe Road, in Campton Township about 4 p.m. for a traffic crash with injuries.

Frank Jenkins was driving his Jeep west on Silver Glen near a curve when he drove the vehicle off the roadway, attempted to get back on, then rolled over, Gengler said.

He said Jenkins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva and died late Monday, Gengler said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and that Jenkins was the sole occupant of the Jeep.

The crash remains under investigation and detectives have not determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role, Gengler said.
