Surgery forces Parker to postpone basketball clinic

The Candace Parker Basketball Clinic scheduled for Thursday in Lisle has been postponed until Oct. 3, according to a statement from the Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy.

Due to her shoulder injury last month and recent surgery, Parker is out for the remainder of the WNBA season.

Parker, a Naperville Central grad and WNBA all-star, is still recovering and cannot travel during this time. She will not be able to actively participate in any activity until late September, which is why the Academy has changed the date of the clinic to Oct. 3. The clinic, which will run from 6-9 p.m., will teach the latest techniques in shooting, ball handling, passing, footwork, and rebounding. The professional staff will feature Parker as well as Chicago Bulls Training Academy instructors.

The clinic is open to girls 8 to 18 years of age. Participants will receive a t-shirt and have the opportunity to have one item autographed by Candace. The cost of this experience is $125.00 per athlete.
