Lee invokes no-trade clause, to stay with Cubs
The Cubs have confirmed reports out of Houston that said first baseman Derrek Lee would invoke his 10-and-5 rights and not approve any trade.
He'll remain a Cub through the end of the season when his contract expires and he becomes a free agent.
Lee has more than 10 years of major-league service and has been with Cubs since 2004. It's also been confirmed by other sources that the Cubs and Angels had been in trade discussions about Lee.
Cubs manager Lou Piniella says he was "very pleased" to hear that Lee was staying with the team.
Lee is having a tough season, batting just .248 with 11 home runs and 44 RBIs.
