Give us real ideas on limiting government

The one common refrain I have heard from all the various tea partyers and conservatives is that the government is too big; to intrusive; too controlling. They may be correct. The problem is that I haven't heard one word in all these months regarding how to go about making it smaller, less intrusive and controlling.

Expressing one's unhappiness through demonstrations and disruptions of local meetings is one thing, but offering specifics regarding who, what, how much, when and how these cuts would benefit us is something entirely different.

When regulations were relaxed, banks responded by lowering their personal and mortgage loan qualifications to the point where anyone who had a pulse was "qualified This practice was a major reason for the economic collapse and why banks are still failing every week.

To achieve fewer rules and regulations requiring fewer bureaucrats to enforce them is a no-brainer if the corporate executives are trustworthy people who would adhere to ethical business standards. But that's the rub.

There don't appear to be any. We can't significantly reduce the size of many areas of government when situations like these exist because the children who run those companies have proven they can't operate morally and ethically without adult supervision. And to make matters worse, neither can members of Congress who continue to take money from the same people they are supposed to regulate.

It's so easy to sit back and criticize and not so easy to offer intelligent ideas that could actually work. What we need from them now is less noise and more objective problem solving.
