Carlos Quentin named AL player of the week
CHICAGO - Chicago White Sox outfielder Carlos Quentin has been named Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week for the period ending June 27.
Quentin, 27, hit .389 (7-18) with four home runs, 11 RBI and six runs scored in six games last week. He led the major leagues in RBI and slugging percentage (1.111) and tied for the lead in home runs.
Included in Quentin's week was his seventh career multihomer game on June 23 vs. Atlanta.
It is the first career weekly honor for Quentin and second of the season for a White Sox player. Paul Konerko received the award for April 26-May 2.
