Don't believe bill won't fund abortions
Senator Dick Durbin's recent article in the editorial page proudly notes that thousands of Catholic nuns approved the health reform bill because of the safeguards built into the legislation to ensure no federal dollars are used for abortion services and the fact it provides $250 million for counseling, job training and assistance for pregnant women. On the same page, Kathleen Parker's column gives the lie to the pretense that this bill will carry any viable protection against federal funding for abortion. You can bet your bottom dollar the $250 million are in reality the funds provided to Planned Parenthood whose health services for pregnant women consists mainly of aborting unwanted children.
