Slaughter looks to prepare for playoffs at Green Bay
Despite a tough loss to La Crosse last weekend, the Chicago Slaughter heads to Green Bay this weekend knowing it has secured the final wild-card playoff berth in team's first season with the IFL.
Post season play is scheduled to begin the last weekend in June and will consists of 16 teams, the top team from each of the 6 Divisions plus 5 wild-card teams in each conference, competing in 4 rounds to determine the United Bowl Champion.
The Slaughter will hit the road this weekend for its final game of the 2010 regular season with a Central North Division rival, the Green Bay Blizzard (9-4), who are currently leading the division.
The Blizzard suffered two losses to head coach Steve McMichael's Slaughter earlier this season, and there is a good chance these two rivals will meet again in the first round of the playoffs.
"It is always a big game playing Green Bay," said Alan Perkins, Slaughter general manager. "It is tough being on the road, but post-season play is all about when you get hot ... you see it in every sport. All you need is an invitation to the playoffs."
Kickoff for this weekend's road game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Online Trading Academy Field in the Resch Center in Green Bay.
