Rowling may allow 'Harry Potter' e-books

J.K. Rowling, whose Harry Potter books are published in the U.K. by Bloomsbury Publishing Group and in the U.S. by Scholastic Corp., is considering e-book releases of her work, the Bookseller.com reported.

Although Rowling had previously opposed e-book publication for fear of piracy, she is "considering all the options and opportunities that this evolving space provides," her literary agent told the Bookseller.com

Richard Charkin of Bloomsbury declined to disclose to the Bookseller.com whether his company was discussing e-book publication with Rowling and her agent.

Bloomsbury will be republishing all the Harry Potter books with new jacket designs in November, the Bookseller reported.
