Trial date set for W. Dundee village manager

A trial date has been set for West Dundee Village Manager Joe Cavallaro, who was charged last month with misdemeanor battery after a local business owner complained Cavallaro poked him in the chest.

The longtime village manager waived his right to a jury trial Thursday. A bench trial before Kane County Judge Bruce Lester is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, in Elgin Branch Court, 150 Dexter Court.

Randy Errington, owner of Hammerhead's Billiards Pub at 107 W. Main St., filed the complaint with West Dundee police on May 4 after an argument with Cavallaro inside a downtown business.

Cavallaro, who surrendered to police on May 19, has denied any physical contact occurred.
