Gurnee man sentenced to 3 years in Ohio slaying cover-up
LEBANON, Ohio -- An Illinois man has been sentenced to three years in an Ohio prison for tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse in a Russian immigrant's slaying.
Warren County prosecutors in southwest Ohio say 41-year-old Ermek Abdildaev, of Gurnee, broke a plea agreement that could have given him a shorter sentence.
Abdildaev was arrested on charges related to the death of 32-year-old Aleksandr Alferov of Cincinnati.
Prosecutor's spokesman Matthew Nolan says Abdildaev broke the plea agreement, saying he would not testify in the future against a suspect in the slaying.
Authorities say Alferov apparently was beaten to death in 2000.
Alferov's remains were found in Warren County in 2007 but not identified until 2009.
