U of I trustees should be ashamed

It just never stops. Our economy is below the basement and even our school trustees can't be trusted. Calling them trustees is an oxymoron. Our new graduates and those already in our universities can't count on any financial help from our schools nor our state yet the people that are put in power have the audacity to raise the tuition for the incoming students and then give an increase in the salary for the incoming president. An increase of $170,000 is obscene.

Most of the parents of the students in these schools don't make that amount of salary for a year. The old salary of $450,000 is even ridiculous. The president of this country doesn't make a salary near the old salary of the university president. To give the incoming students a 9.5 increase in tuition is shameful.

These so-called trustees are making it inconvenient for the struggling parents and students. Many students will not be able to go on with their schooling. There are no jobs available for these students and many parents are out of work. I guess this is the thanks the parents get for being upstanding citizens and encouraging their children to go to college.

I suggest that all the incoming high school seniors, the classes of 2011, boycott the universities of Illinois. It appears that it is less costly to go out of state at this rate. Our university's so-called trustees apparently could care less about the hardships facing the students. It proves how egotistic they are and how uncharitable they have gotten.

It is strictly greed. I write this not for myself as I don't have any children or grandchildren attending the state of Illinois schools. I happen to have a conscience and have feelings for these students and their parents.
