St. Charles man pleads guilty to possession of child porn

A St. Charles man pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of child pornography.

Javier T. Sanchez, 23, was sentenced to 180 days in the Kane County jail and 30 months of sex offender-specific probation. He was ordered to register as a sex offender and to undergo sex offender treatment, and is prohibited from being near minors without the express permission of probation officials.

He has already served 97 days in jail awaiting trial, and was allowed credit for good behavior, so he was released Tuesday afternoon.

Sanchez was arrested March 23 by St. Charles police after forensic tests uncovered several images of child pornography on his computer. The computer had been seized after his arrest March 2 on a trespassing charge at St. Charles North High School.

The school district had warned Sanchez in writing in January to stay away from school property. It was in response to reports he was seen outside several near east side schools, according to police.

The police said female students at the time reported being watched at bus stops by a person who matched Sanchez's description and drove a vehicle like his.

Sanchez has prior convictions in Kane County for disorderly conduct, trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was sentenced in May 2009 to five months of conditional discharge and 18 days in the county jail for public indecency, stemming from a "lewd exposure" arrest in St. Charles.
