Tryon, Franks work for the people to stop the borrowing, start reforming
I am disheartened by the decisions of the leaders of our state regarding the budget. Besides refusing to make meaningful spending cuts, the House of Representatives went further off the deep end and passed a bill to borrow billions to pay the state's pension obligations. These are ongoing commitments that must be met, but we must also acknowledge borrowing instead of reforming will only make the matter worse. All but a few of our legislators are not looking at the big picture and are acting selfishly during this election year.
I was so happy to read that McHenry County's state representatives worked together to try to stop the borrowing. State Rep. Mike Tryon voted against the bill, as well as State Rep. Jack Franks, who isn't giving up the fight. Franks is using his influence to find senators who share his disdain for these irresponsible and shallow moves in hopes of defeating the borrowing bill in the Senate. It's good to know that we have someone working for us who is persistent and committed to what he believes is right. Keep up the good work, Tryon and Franks. Your constituents are noticing.
