Cubs-Sox tickets remain in demand for city series

Maybe it's because they're playing for the vaunted Crosstown Cup.

Or maybe it's because they're only a combined double-digits out of first place in a town where hope usually springs eternal.

Whatever the reason, demand for this weekend's Cub-White Sox Crosstown Classic series remains in line with years past.

In fact, according to the folks at StubHub.com, the three-game set at Wrigley Field rivals the Phillies-Red Sox series at Fenway Park as the most popular series of the weekend, based on dollar volume.

Sales numbers are very similar. On average, fans have paid about $104 per ticket for the games in Chicago, and $106 for the games in Boston.

The most expensive tickets listed Tuesday afternoon for the series were for $2,000, but the most expensive actually purchased at that time was for $1,000.

The three-game series is on its way to being the hottest series at Wrigley so far this season.

Ranked in descending order by dollar volume, these are the top five games so far for the weekend:

1. Phillies at Red Sox, June 12

2. White Sox at Cubs, June 12

3. Astros at Yankees, June 12

4 White Sox at Cubs, June 11

5. Phillies at Red Sox, June 11
