Don't ignore plight of Iraqi Christians
At present it seems there is more order in Iraq and our time in that country is drawing to an end. Our country's former and present administration's goal has been to find a power-sharing agreement amenable to the Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds so we can leave.
However, in the meantime, the Iraqi Christians have been suffering. They have been targeted by elements of all three of those groups. On May 2, two buses containing Christian university students and workers were bombed in northern Iraq. One person was killed and 188 were injured. This was not the first attack. Last Christmas Eve a Christian bus driver was pulled from his bus and shot to death.
The day before that a bomb was placed inside a 1,200-year-old church, resulting in the death of two worshippers, and injury to five others. There have been no outcries or protests regarding this terrible situation.
We need to let the White House and our elected representatives know that ignoring the plight of Iraqi Christians is neither moral or acceptable, and it is certainly not good foreign policy.
