New leader for Woodland Primary:Stacey Anderson has been tabbed to assume command of Woodland Primary School in Gages Lake. Anderson will replace Lori Casey as principal. Casey's departure from the primary building resulted from her promotion to Woodland Elementary District 50's associate superintendent for education. Anderson has been Woodland Primary's assistant principal for the past two years. "I feel very fortunate for this opportunity," said Anderson. "I have worked closely with Lori Casey and our staff to provide a safe and secure learning environment for our students." Anderson spent 18 years at neighboring Grayslake Elementary District 46 before joining the Gurnee-based District 50 system. Anderson will start as primary school principal on July 1.Grayslake pool hosts video competition:Grayslake's aquatic center will host an inaugural competition involving the video game Rock Band at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 16. Ten bands will have a chance to demonstrate prowess in the popular video game and compete for a total $200 in prizes. Winners will get $100, followed by $50 for second and $25 for third place. There also will be individual prizes. Each band will have four performers on guitar, bass, drums and vocals. Entry fee is $25 and includes admission, slice of pizza and a drink for all band members. Performers of all ages may participate. Gates to watch the action will open at 8:15 p.m., with a $5 fee covering admission, a pizza slice and drink. Swimming will be available during the contest.
