Like another wartime strike?

Has anyone compared the BP oil gusher with the total quantity of oil products: gasoline, fuel oil, crude, kerosene, etc., that was being shipped across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and sunk by German and Japanese submarines and aircraft during World War II?

I remember that the Merchant Marine sailors were somewhat protected by being in convoys.
