Reward in search for semi driver

A $6,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the identification of a truck driver who played a role in a crash last week that took the life of a 27-year-old McHenry County man.

Brett Huffar was killed just before 4 p.m. June 7 after his car collided with a truck while driving on Route 14 between Woodstock and his hometown of Harvard, police said.

Authorities believe a white semitrailer heading west on Route 14 veered into the path of Huffar's eastbound car, forcing him to swerve off the road to avoid a crash. When Huffar steered back onto the roadway, his car crossed over the center line and collided with another oncoming truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about the unidentified truck is asked to call the McHenry County Sheriff's Office at (815) 338-2144 or McHenry County Crime Stoppers at (800) 762-STOP.
