Pizza for charity
California Pizza Kitchen, 1202 Commons Drive in Geneva, will contribute 20 percent of lunch and dinner sales today to benefit the Geneva Community Chest. Participants must present the flyer that is available at genevacommunitychest.org. The community chest has a goal of raising $110,000 by Sept. 30 for distribution to about 20 agencies that provide services to Geneva residents. Contact Pat Wittenberg at P.O. AAUW used book sale
People wanting to donate books to the American Association of University Women's annual used book sale can drop off materials between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through Saturday at the Crouse Education Center, 780 Shoreline Drive, Aurora. The AAUW collects hardcover and paperback books, children's books, fiction and nonfiction, CDs and DVDs. The annual sale features more than 10,000 books, with proceeds funding the AAUW's educational foundation and scholarships. This year's book sale takes place June 16 to 19 at Neuqua Valley High School, 2360 95th St., Naperville.
Church band concert
"Band Together," billed as the multi-Church music event for the Fox Valley, will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Pottawattamie Park, 8 North Ave., St Charles. Several local church bands will be playing throughout the day. There will be volleyball, a bake sale and other activities to go along with the music. Admission is free, but donations are accepted and proceeds will benefit Lazarus House in St. Charles plus World Relief Haiti. For more information, go to BandTogetherWorld.com.
Geneva sports display
The Geneva History Center is seeking donations and loan items to help stage an exhibition on Geneva sports in July. It seeks sports memorabilia and uniforms before 1970; women's sports memorabilia before 1975; memorabilia or uniforms pertaining to the 1927 Geneva High School football team; 1920s and 1930s Geneva High School track and field teams; the 1940s Geneva High School football teams; 1930s and 1940s Geneva High School wrestling teams; the 1963 Geneva High School basketball team; the 1968 Geneva High School football team; and memorabilia pertaining to women's high school basketball from 1900-1912 and the Geneva High School Girls' Athletic Association.
