Bandits offering fireworks with Saturday's twinbill
The only fireworks show in Elgin will commence Saturday following the 7 p.m. Chicago Bandits game against the Tennessee Diamonds.
For fans of the Bandits of the National Pro Fastpitch league, the event marks their only fireworks night of the season.
The Bandits will be playing the Tennessee Diamonds in a double header with games at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Afterwards, the Bandits will have a fireworks show to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.
On Thursday, the Bandits will host the second "Hit the Books Reading Day" of the season. Kids who have participated in the Chicago Bandits "Hit the Books" reading program can use their tickets received through the program to come watch the Bandits take on the Tennessee at 7:05 p.m.
In addition, fans bringing a book to be donated to the Gail Borden library will also receive $3 off the ticket price.
On Thursday, the Bandits are hosting two special events, Business Appreciation Night and the Lions Club Eye Glasses Drive. Any business that attends the game can buy one, get one on any tickets they purchase. For any non-business fans that night, you can bring in a pair of eye glasses to donate for the Lions Club and receive $2 off any tickets purchased at the gate. The game against the Akron Racers will begin at 7:05 p.m.
