Arlington Heights walk to feature five gardens
The Arlington Heights Garden Walk next Sunday, July 11, features five residential gardens, each having its own personality and focus, but all offering a glimpse of casual elegance, and creativity.
As an added bonus this year, the Moorings will open its campus, sharing its community gardens, a sun and a shade garden at private villas, and some lovely balcony gardens as well.
Tickets are $15 and benefit scholarship and conservation programs. Tickets may be purchased at the Unique Boutique, on the Moorings campus, as well as at the individual homes. A ticket also enters the holder into the raffle drawing at 4:45 p.m.
The Unique Boutique will be open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 S. Fremont St. There is no charge to visit the boutique, which showcases a variety of artisans who have created one-of-a-kind items for the garden, from the garden, or about gardens and gardening.
A "Pick Your Prize" raffle will also be held on the grounds, with many exciting and valuable prizes donated by members and businesses around town. Raffle tickets are available on site with prize winners pulled every hour.
Master Gardeners will also be available to assist with gardening questions. Puzzled by a trouble spot in your yard? Wondering if that's a "good bug" or a bad one? Wanting to plant an organic garden? You'll find the answers at the "Ask-A-Gardener" booth.
