Woman hit by train in Hanover Park

A woman was in critical condition after being hit by a train near Metra's Hanover Park station between 8:20 and 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to Metra spokesman Michael Gillis. Train No. 2722 left Elgin at 8:10 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Chicago's Union Staton at 9:24 p.m. It was delayed 77 minutes because of the accident, Gillis said.

Gillis was not sure why the woman was so close to the train tracks. She was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center. Her age or name were not available on Sunday night. Representatives from the Hanover Park Fire Department were unavailable on Sunday.
