E. Dundee errs in publicizing filing period

The Village of East Dundee gave out incorrect filing information for residents interested in running for trustee or clerk in the April 5 consolidated election.

A communication error between the village and Kane County resulted in the mistake, according to Heather Maieritsch, deputy village administrator.

Information previously given by the village to those picking up their petitions indicated Jan. 18 as the first day of filing. The actual filing period in East Dundee, as with the rest of Kane County, is Dec. 13-20.

Candidates seeking election must gather at least 32 signatures before the filing period ends.

Petitions must be filed no later than 5 p.m. on Dec. 20 at village hall, 120 Barrington Ave. There are three, 4-year trustee seats available as well as one, 4-year clerk's position.

Michael Ruffulo, John Cichowski and Jeff Lynam are the incumbent trustees up for re-election. Jennifer Rehberg is the current village clerk.

No one has filed petitions yet.
