Cops bust second drinking party at Buffalo Grove home

Buffalo Grove Police busted the second underage drinking party in little over a month at a home where they arrested more than 30 underage drinkers in April.

At about 12:45 a.m. May 16, police received a complaint about a possible underage drinking party at a home in the 500 block of White Pine Road.

Officers arrived to find juveniles running away from the home and leaving evidence of alcohol consumption behind. They arrested six minors.

The homeowner and her son were not present at the time, therefore officers secured the premises, police said.

Police later arrested the 51-year-old homeowner, Shana Betz, saying she had full knowledge of the party. Her son, Gregory Betz, 18, was also arrested.

Mother and son were charged with four counts each of contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Gregory Betz was arrested following the earlier party on April 3, Easter weekend, and was charged with unlawful possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor and a local ordinance social hosting charge for hosting the party. At the time, Betz's parents were out of town, police said.

On May 16, police charged Leslie Ezpeleta, 20, of the 700 block of Waverly Lane in Wheeling, Alexander Guider, 18, of the 400 block of North Wabash Avenue in Chicago, and the four juveniles, who were 16 years and 17 years old from Glenview, with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor.

None of the people arrested recently were involved in the earlier party, except for Gregory Betz, said Buffalo Grove Police Cmdr. Steve Husak.

All have posted bond. The minors are set to appear at the Lake County Courthouse on June 25. The Betzs' next court date is June 3.
