Purdue suspends two fraternities after alcohol, hazing probe
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue University officials have suspended two fraternities and placed another on probation following investigations into alcohol and hazing violations.
The university says Pi Kappa Alpha and Omega Psi Phi fraternities are suspended from school activities through at least the 2010-11 school year, with Delta Upsilon on probation for that time.
Pi Kappa Alpha and Delta Upsilon were cited for alcohol violations. Purdue says Omega Psi Phi conducted hazing activities that included multiple late-night sessions and physical abuse such as paddling and calisthenics.
