Reports: Rockets' Elston interviewing with Bulls
Here's a glance at some of the latest developments as the Bulls search for a new coach and prepare to court top free agents:
Elston's avenue: According to the Houston Chronicle, Rockets assistant Elston Turner has an interview scheduled with the Bulls. It will probably be more of a long conversation at next week's draft camp. The longtime Rick Adelman assistant is not believed to be among the Bulls' top candidates, but the team is keeping an open mind and met with Turner in 2008.
New coach on market: Now that Atlanta was swept out of the playoffs by Orlando, coach Mike Woodson is basically a free agent since he was in the final year of his contract. It's possible he could return to the Hawks, but the team appears to be in no hurry to get something done. It may be too soon to rule out Woodson as a candidate for the Bulls' job, but so far there is no evidence of any strong interest. He went 206-286 in five seasons with the Hawks, improving every year.
Brown could be down: Since Cleveland was bounced by Boston in the second round of the playoffs Thursday night, Cavs coach Mike Brown is a strong candidate to be replaced - despite a couple of 60-win seasons. The Bulls want to play at a fast tempo with Derrick Rose running the show and that's something Brown has never done well as a head coach. So he doesn't seem to be a good fit at all if he is axed by the Cavs. Unless, of course, LeBron James likes playing for Brown.
