Fielders lose second game in Joliet 6-4

The Lake County Fielders (3-7) lose a hard fought game to the Joliet JackHammers (5-4) tonight at Silver Cross Field. The Fielders rallied in the fourth but came up short losing 6-4.

Fielders Josh Petersen went three for four, including a two-out, RBI single in the third to score the Fielders first run of the game. Then Josh Short reached base on balls, advancing Petersen to third, followed by a triple ripped by Anthony Esquer to bring around Petersen and Short.

Fielders starter Zach Ward took the loss for the Fielders in his second outing of the year. Ward went for five innings, giving up four hits, six runs - five of which were earned. The Fielders bullpen had a good show once again with Garrett Sherrill and Jake Ruckle throwing three combined hitless innings.

Ward walked three in the first inning, contributing to the JackHammers early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Joliet scored six runs off of four hits to take the win. JackHammers' Todd Privett took the win, with closer Drew Shetrone taking a save.

The Fielders will try and salvage a game in the series tomorrow afternoon at 2:10PM. John Brownell will look for his first victory of the year facing Rory Shortell.
