Westell posts profit

Westell Technologies Inc., a provider of broadband products, outside plant telecommunications equipment and conferencing services, Wednesday posted fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $37.8 million, down 32 percent from $56 million in the same period a year ago.

Net income was $2.7 million, or 4 cents per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $1.9 million, or a loss of 3 cents per diluted share, in the same quarter of the prior year. Total revenue for the 2010 fiscal year was $181.5 million, down 2 percent from $185.9 million in the prior year.

Net income during the year was $10.3 million compared to a net loss of $16.6 million in the prior year.
