Bulls watch: LeBron suits up

Here's a glance at some of the latest developments as the Bulls search for a new coach and prepare to court top free agents:

Team LeBron suits up: Well, after originally focusing on the Bulls' coaching search, this space has become more of the LeBron watch. Fortunately, a definitive bit of information came across Monday when a staff member from ESPN Radio in Cleveland tweeted that members of the LeBron James "team" were spotted wearing Bulls gear at a Troy Smith event.

Football fans might recall Smith as the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at Ohio State who is now a Baltimore Ravens backup. He has a stake in all this because if James leaves town, Smith becomes Cleveland's biggest celebrity.

Searches narrow: Some of the other NBA teams searching for a coach are beginning to narrow their lists. Mavs assistant Dwane Casey has been mentioned as a leader for the Atlanta job, with competition from Avery Johnson, Tyron Corbin and Dan Majerle. New Orleans is focused on Johnson and Boston assistant Tom Thibodeau, while Doug Collins is still a top contender in Philadelphia. As previously mentioned, the Bulls will start talking to candidates this week at the Chicago predraft camp, but are in no hurry.
