One injured when car strikes traffic light in Lake Forest
A portion of Route 41 in Lake Forest was shut down for about three hours early Thursday after a traffic accident that left one person injured.
Police said in a news release they were called to routes 41 and 60 for a one-car accident at 2:51 a.m. involving a 57-year-old man with a last known address of Chicago.
The man was traveling south on Route 41 when he struck a traffic light pole. His car then slammed into a streetlight pole and another traffic light pole before stopping at the southwest corner of routes 41 and 60, the release stated.
Lake Forest Fire Department extracted the driver and flew him via Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Reports indicate he did not suffer any life threatening injuries.
The unidentified driver is being investigated for driving under the influence of alcohol, the news release stated. In addition, the car is registered to someone out of Milwaukee.
The Major Crash Assistance Team was called in to help investigate the accident.
Route 41 was closed at Deerpath Road, and Route 60 was closed at Waukegan Road from 2:55 to 6 a.m., the release stated.
