Mentally ill deserve to live in dignity

The mentally ill are our sons and daughters, who need to live in proximity to their families as part of their recovery.

The Boeger Place housing, projected to be built in Arlington Hts., was in an ideal location - on a residential street, within easy walking distance to stores, and possible employment.

Referring to like construction elsewhere, we know that with supportive staff, our adult childĀ­ren will have safe affordable apartments, with even a room on premises to store bicycles. Exercise is an important factor in recovery. Questions regarding transportation have been addressed and solutions offered within our committee.

Any inquiries regarding changes in zoning is merely a thin veil for NIMBY. Remember these are our beloved children with a no-fault illness and deserve the respect due them.
