Your news: Community Interfaith Service in Long Grove

The Annual Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service of the Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at Temple Chai, 1670 Checker Road, Long Grove. The Interfaith Service is an annual gathering of Christians and Jews from many congregations in the Buffalo Grove/Wheeling/Long Grove area giving thanks and celebrating together. The event is open to all residents of local communities whether or not they are members of a participating congregation. A fellowship hour will follow the service.

This year's event will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council through more musical performances than usual by contemporary bands, bell choirs and choirs from Beth Am, Temple Chai, Beth Judea, Saint Mary Parish and Kingswood United Methodist Church. There will be multimedia presentations to share with the community some of the events and impacts of the Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council over the past 20 years.

Portions of the service will be geared especially toward children. There will be performances by a combined-faith children's choir and a puppet performance by the Glory Fingers Creative Ministry Team from Kingswood Methodist Church.

A donation of nonperishable food or paper goods will be taken at the door. All food and paper goods will be distributed to area food pantries.

For more information and directions, call the temple office, at (847) 537-1771.

Donations to the Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council (a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization) can be mailed to Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council, 1282 Green Knolls Drive, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089.

Tribute cards, to offer congratulations or condolences, are also available and will be sent out for a donation of at least $5. For more details, call (847) 821-0861.
