Suburban bank robbery suspect captured in Oklahoma
A Chicago man accused of robbing a Niles bank earlier this month has been captured in Oklahoma, the FBI announced Monday.
Abdouramane Pare, 37, who authorities said worked for a Rolling Meadows-based satellite TV provider and used a company vehicle as his getaway car, was arrested without incident about noon Saturday in Bethany, Okla.
Federal court documents say Pare entered U.S. Bank at 8500 W. Dempster in Niles at 2:22 p.m. May 10, ordered customers and employees to the ground and threatened them with a weapon described by witnesses as a submachine gun.
He then jumped on the teller counter and struck a female teller in the face with either the butt of his gun or his fist, causing injuries that required treatment at a hospital, authorities say.
Pare reached into two teller drawers and took $2,051, authorities said. As he fled from the bank building, Pare shoved an elderly female customer and ripped a gold necklace from her neck, court documents state.
Another customer sitting in his vehicle told authorities he saw the suspect get into a white van with the Rolling Meadows-based satellite TV provider's name on the side. Authorities tracked down the van and saw it was checked out to Pare. The van's GPS also showed the vehicle was in Niles about the time of the robbery, authorities said.
