Judge dismisses Elk Grove gun charges

A Cook County judge dismissed gun charges last week against three out-of-state residents after finding no probable cause for their arrest.

Elk Grove Village police arrested Damon Jenkins, 31, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Marcus Bankston, 30, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Derek Underwood of Smyrna, Georgia on unlawful use of a weapon by a felon charges last month in the parking lot of the Country Inn & Suites in the 1100 block of Devon Ave.

Authorities say police had the area under surveillance at the time and they searched the car, recovering three loaded handguns and an undisclosed amount of U.S. cash.
