Look around and see real poverty
Wayne Oras Sr. wrote recently there is no such thing as poverty in America.
Yeah, sure.
The people that have lost their homes, their life savings, their self respect because no one will hire them.
They don't register on the poverty scale?
Oras tells us he admires the homeless that live on the street and travel below the sight line. He further admires them because they do not seek help from the government because they want to be left alone.
Yeah, sure.
Poverty is more than an empty stomach. Poverty is real when money isn't available to fund your family's basic needs.
Poverty of the mind and the heart is real. Very real. It gnaws at you night and day and it brands you as a failure.
Poverty, Mr. Oras, is real and it is here.
